Like many of our patients, the wealthy businessman had flown with his wife from abroad to our cancer center in search of more time. Several years prior, he had received a diagnosis of an aggressive cancer and was treated with chemotherapy and radiation at some of the best hospitals in the world. With malodorous lesions on all limbs, he came to our cancer center and received additional radiotherapy and chemotherapy. When his disease further progressed, he was admitted to my oncology service with multiorgan failure.
