The bony destruction of the calcaneus is one of the most difficult sites to replace due to its unique shape and load bearing demand. Once destroyed the projection and height of the foot is difficult to replace however there are methods to reconstruct including bone grafting, double barrelled fibula1, and allograft2. Increasingly, the medial femoral condyle flap is being used to reconstruct foot and ankle defects3. The strong osteogenic potential of the medial femoral condyle (MFC) flap may have a use in restoring vitality to allograft bone.
