Summary: Advances in microsurgical instruments and techniques have allowed for introduction of lymphaticovenous anastomosis as a potential surgical treatment for patients with upper and lower extremity lymphedema. This article reviews the approach to lymphaticovenous anastomosis patient selection and technical modifications that improve the ease and efficiency of the procedure.
