To the Editor Lee and colleagues provide an exacting analysis of contemporary US breast cancer screening practices and suggest that screening elderly women into the ninth or tenth decades of life may be reasonable. This is because cancer detection, positive predictive value, and recall rates imply satisfactory balance among harms of mammography and detection of cancers.
