In this issue of Cancer Cell, Takahashi et al. identify a novel, non-canonical oxidative stress defense mechanism involving TRPA1, a redox-sensitive Ca²⁺ channel, and the upregulation of anti-apoptotic pathways to promote cancer cell survival.
