Micrographic controlled surgery of basal cell carcinomas – Rapid Lump Examination (RLE) in comparison to H&E‐stained paraffin sections

Abstract

The most common skin cancer is basal cell carcinoma (BCC). As the incidence of BCC is increasing, it is of major interest to optimize diagnostic and therapeutic options. The most effective option for complete clearance is through surgical treatment. Follow‐up studies revealed reduced BCC recurrence using MMS compared with surgical treatment with a random vertical margin control.
