The study found several patient and clinician factors were associated with clinical decision-making about the offer of thrombolysis in the treatment of acute ischaemic stroke. For instance, clinicians were more likely to treat patients aged 85 years than patients aged 68 years; they were also more likely to offer thrombolysis to patients with severe stroke than to those with mild stroke. There was also evidence of significant heterogeneity among clinicians on some patient factors. The discrete choice experiment meant that only a subset of factors could be explored; those not explored require further research.
