We read the article by Hassan et al(1) with great interest. The article describes the emerging electronic cigarette burns trend, and their experience at the Pinderfields General Hospital burns unit. They report that all patients presented burn involving the thigh and genital area, of mixed depth. Due to a persistant elevated skin pH despite copious irrigating in all their patients, they advocate early surgical debridement (versajet debridement or tangential excision) in cases of electronic cigarette related burns.
