Does intraoperative magnesium lessen pain after knee replacement surgery?

Editor—I write in response to the paper by Shin and colleagues¹ regarding the use of magnesium sulphate as an analgesic in staged knee arthroplasty. Whilst the study appears well-planned and presents some convincing results, my colleagues and I were left with a few questions.
