In Reply Ahern et al point out several limitations of our study with which we agree. Like Ahern et al, we hope that future studies will have sufficient information to evaluate, separately by cancer site, the effect of individual statins on a variety of clinical outcomes over a long follow-up period. Yet previous observational studies found a strong inverse association between statin use and death regardless of the type of statin, cancer site, and length of follow-up.
